It was a blessing to visit with some of California's Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in their offices across the street from the U.S. Capitol building in Washington DC. I know them and many others personally because more than half of California's 54 U.S. Congress Members used to serve in our State Capitol prior to being elected to U.S. Congress, as is common in states across the U.S.. As we reach out to help or pray for all in our state capitols, we are helping our future national leaders. HAPPY PRESIDENTS’ DAY, AKA WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY! Attended the 74th National Prayer Breakfast events in Washington DC. This is an annual non-partisan gathering chaired by a bipartisan group of U.S. Congress Members that every President has spoken at since 1953. Pictured seated to the left of President Trump are Rep Jonathan Jackson (D, Illinois) who is son of the late civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, and to his right was Rep Ben Cline (R, Virginia). Music was by 4-time Grammy Award winner Michael W. Smith (pictured). The last time I attended President Obama was in office and spoke. A good opportunity to interact with leaders from throughout the nation and the world. Nice to welcome Pastor Sri Veerabathini from Florida and local Ministry Leader Jim Quayle to the California State Capitol. A privilege to be invited to deliver an invocation for the California State Board of Equalization's @boardofequalization first meeting of the year. This board oversees many important tax decisions for our state of almost 40 million people, and each of the board members are elected Constitutional Officers. Thankful also for the board members' warm welcome and kind words. “Someone here this morning needs Christ. Someone here needs to follow Him. Who this morning will accept Him? … You here this morning, wherever you are, Jesus is calling. Are you here this morning? We bid you come.” - Martin Luther King Jr, from sermon "Can A Christian Be a Communist?" delivered at Ebenezer Baptist Church. #MLKDay California State Capitol flags flying at half-mast in honor of Congressman and former State Senator and Assembly member Doug LaMalfa, who was called home to heaven this week. Encouraging to be invited by a group of California State Assembly Members to lead them in a Christ-centered Biblically-based prayer in the Capitol Rotunda just before the Governor’s State of the State Address. At California Governor Gavin Newsom’s State-of-the-State Speech
