Such an encouragement to share about my ministry to the Capitol and be prayed for at the monthly Calvary Chapel pastors prayer gathering at @calvarychapelnewcastleca with pastors from many churches present. Thank you to Head Pastor Joshua Bove and Jr. High Pastor Nathaniel Smith for the invitation and to all for the warm welcome. It was a pleasure to welcome Brian Dowd of Next Step Coach along with an incredible group of local leaders with the Rising Leaders Program to the California State Capitol to show and tell them more about my ministry there. It was an honor to deliver the invocation at the America 250th Anniversary event at the California State Capitol, hosted by Assembly Member Jeff Gonzalez @asmjeffgonzalez and attended by many Assembly Members and Senators and military service members and veterans. It can be viewed at vimeo.com/event/6021455 (Amazing painting by @timree :) “No people ought to feel greater obligations to celebrate the goodness of the Great Disposer of Events and of the Destiny of Nations than the people of the United States. His kind providence originally conducted them to one of the best portions of the dwelling place allotted for the great family of the human race. He protected and cherished them under all the difficulties and trials to which they were exposed in their early days. Under His fostering care their habits, their sentiments, and their pursuits prepared them for a transition in due time to a state of independence and self-government. In the arduous struggle by which it was attained they were distinguished by multiplied tokens of His benign interposition. During the interval which succeeded He reared them into the strength and endowed them with the resources which have enabled them to assert their national rights and to enhance their national character in another arduous conflict, which is now so happily terminated by a peace and reconciliation with those who have been our enemies. And to the same Divine Author of Every Good and Perfect Gift we are indebted for all those privileges and advantages, religious as well as civil, which are so richly enjoyed in this favored land.” - James Madison, Founding Father and Father of the U.S. Constitution, 4th President of the United States, 1815. Happy 4th of July and America’s 250th birthday! “In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, with a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me, as He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, while God is marching on. Glory, glory, Hallelujah. His truth is marching on.” - The Battle Hymn of the Republic, by Julia Ward Howe, Slavery Abolitionist, 1861. #Juneteenth Psalm 82:3-4 “Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; uphold the rights of the afflicted and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.” California State Senate prayer before session on Memorial Day 1953. A very Biblical and Christ-centered prayer. Sadly, a prayer like this would never be heard in our State Senate or Assembly these days. #MemorialDay https://www.instagram.com/p/DXpc-UQEgJ4/
