I was feeling sad as I reflected on some of the painful times and memories from my past. I occasionally get like this, and when I do it’s not good. Maybe you get like this sometimes too?
Then, I suddenly remembered. I remembered that I have absolutely nothing to worry about because, well, … I DIED!
Galatians 2:20 (NASB) says, “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” The old me, the one who went through all that pain, is gone … crucified with Christ. There was no memorial service, but there might as well have been. It’s that real.
And now, I’ve started afresh. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NASB).
Even if the pain is recent or the memories are strong, it’s a new day, and the past is history. “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:23-24, ESV). Thank God.
Have you died yet? If so, remember it, and rejoice in it. The old you is obsolete, He is with you today, and much better things are coming in your future.
Needed to hear this. We thank the Lord for you!
